Changing Your Windows? Get a Permit!

If you are replacing windows in your home or business, you need a permit from the City of Glendale Building and Safety Department. This applies even when you are putting new windows into the existing frame or when the windows can't be seen from the street. The only time you don't need a permit is when you are just replacing the glass in an existing window.

New Map of Planning Applications

You can now view a map showing the location of all active applications. Each dot on the Planning Application Map shows the location of an application. Simply click on a dot to get a brief description of the application.

New Public Notice Posting Requirements

Is your project going to be heard at a public hearing or meeting?

Beginning January 2008 you (the applicant) are required to post a 3-foot by 4-foot sign at the project site at least 10 days prior to the hearing with the following information:

  • Case Number
  • Project Address
  • Project Description
  • Public Hearing/Meeting; Date, Time, Location
  • Contact Information

This 3-foot by 4-foot sign must be mounted on 4-inch by 4-inch wooden posts and must be able to withstand all types of weather conditions. The purpose of this requirement is to make sure the sign is very visible to all that may be interested.
